Slots were often called "One Armed Bandits" for their ability to take money from people.
It's certainly a profitable line for casinos both real world and online...

You walk in most land based casinos in Las Vegas and you see upwards of 2000 slot machines. That same casino will generally have less then 100 table games and probably only 75% of those are active at peak hours.

One would believe that after decades of observing players and gauging what produces the most revenue per square foot, casinos have decided Slot Machines are the real cash cows in the house.

Not only is this true, it is well publicized plus many of state-op casinos are replacing the 25 cent machines with 1, 2, 5 and 10 cents machines.

Not that this has anything to do with online slots but heres an example of land based slots revenue for September 2005:

Foxwoods Casino:

• Total Slots Handle = $804 million from 7439 slot machines (Thats $108079 per machine).
• Total Slots Win = $68.8 million. ($8980 per machine).
• Hold percentage = 8.3%

Mehegan Sun:

• Total Slots Handle = $882.4 million from 6204 machines (Thats $142230 per machine).
• Total Slots Win = $74.9 million ($12073 per machine).
• Hold percentage = 8.49%

I guess we all need two or three machines to make a good living.
